Il Pimpinone, Aegina International Music Festival
Wealthy, fashion-conscious but lonely, Pimpinone engages a maidservant, falls for her and marries her. Vespetta, aptly named, quickly turns everything to her advantage. Having gained access to his heart, she then systematically does likewise to the keys to the larder, the wine-cellar and the money-chest. Finally, she gains her freedom, too, and the marriage is conducted entirely on her own terms, as hapless, but foolish Pimpinone is forced to capitulate to her every whim.
